"I am sorry," he stated quietly. "It's not that I don't care for you, it's. A lot of things." He looked at Dirk like he'd been scolded, because he hated to see the lad upset, especially when he so rarely showed his emotions. He refused to think that Dirk's expression was for manipulative purposes.
