But Jake's hand... His solitary, lone hand, warm against his cheek did him in. He sucked in a sharp breath and went stiff, clamping his jaw shut for a moment and hardening his features. He reached to the side and picked up his glasses.
"I have to know," he said, brushing Jake off and standing. "Obviously I'm not going to let you die anyway, but if that winds up being the case measures need to be taken to ensure that this doesn't repeat." He was shaking. "It's within reason to say you're likely not the only carrier, whether it's that you have a natural resistance to death by being an oblivious dunderfuck or if maybe, whatever agent may aid quicker death due to the virus, but if I can make one thing right for the shit I've caused then I'm sure as hell not going to pass up the opportunity."
