He leveled his gaze with Jake's, his face less impassive and more forcibly straight in a way that just made him look so far beyond exhausted he'd come back around to energetic again. He was strung out, and it was obvious in every crease in his expression and every taught muscle in his shoulders. He didn't actually respond.
