Dirk waved off the jerky and Dave shrugged, looking around for a minute before he circled behind them, grabbed a beer in a glass bottle out of the fridge, held it up in a 'cheers' motion, and started to wander off again.
"I'll be back here if you two need anything," he called. But they were adults, so he didn't figure they would.
This left a brief moment of awkward silence before Dirk shrugged his shoulders with another half-smile and tossed his head toward the family room with an inquisitive raise of his eyebrows. There was a TV and a couch, chaise and love seat in the room. Dirk assumed Jake would figure out what that meant.
