He desperately wanted to comfort Jake, to draw him into an embrace and tell him it'd all be okay, shh, don't cry. But there was no time. Seconds were precious, right then, time was wasting. There wasn't any to spare on comfort. He could comfort him when the threat was removed. He swallowed, running a hand through Jake's hair and holding his arm out. This was going to suck. He raised his sword, and squeezed the fingers of the arm he was about to cut off of his best friend.
