This is a generic Jakepost to reply to. Because the meme post was all Jake and has some inconceivable amount of comments now so it doesn't like to load. Have at, my lovelies.
Jake stood there for a while, watching him, before he hugged the soiled sheets to himself and padded in sock feet out of the room. He stripped down and put everything in the wash, and with a towel around his waist returned for the bowl of unfinished soup. Jade wolf-whistled at him when he came down in just a towel and he shot her the finger. She leaned in the doorway as he rinsed out Dirk's bowl.
"How's hundred degrees and climbing?" she asked. Jake chuckled.
"Sleeping," he said. Jade's eyebrows raised slowly and she gave Jake a long look that it took him a moment to notice. "...your eyes are asking a question you don't want me to actually confirm the answer to," he added, and she snorted.
"Well at least we know he'll sleep," she said, moving away from the door and heading back for the lab. "There's more soup in the crock pot for you, and for him later. I'll be in the lab if either of you need me."
"Thanks, gram," he hollered after her, putting the dishes in the dishwasher and wandering back up to take his shower.
He turned the water on good and hot and folded his towel back up, setting it on the back of the toilet and brushing his teeth sort of idly while the water warmed. He found himself pleasantly warmed by the steam and the evening's activities, belatedly allowing himself the boner he had so wanted to pop while he jerked Dirk into his pleasant state of unconscious. He palmed himself with one hand while he felt the water temperature with the other, stepping into the spray backward when he was satisfied with it.
He finished almost embarrassingly quickly to a replay of Dirk's expressions and vocalizations, bracing himself in the corner of the shower and smacking his head backward into the tiles as he cried out low in his throat, something that sounded distinctly like Dirk's name. From there it was an easy clean-up-- body first, hair second, a good long rinse in the hot water that left his skin pink-tinged beneath his tan and smelling like soap and a touch of fruit from his shampoo (mandarin orange, which he may or may not have had ulterior motive in buying).
He toweled off in the bathroom and kept the cloth around his neck as he wandered back down the hallway and into his room, knowing Jade would be down in the lab and Dirk would likely still be asleep-- not that he would object to Jake walking in naked if he were awake. He selected a pair of boxers and pajama pants from his bureau, pulling what Dirk brought along to sleep in from his bag when he returned to it.
Of course in doing so, he had no choice but to notice Lil Cal in all his Derse Pajama glory, folded up and staring inside Dirk's bag. He did what any sane, masculine college aged boy would do when faced with such a situation, he briefly screamed.
And promptly squashed the sound in his throat by covering his hands with his face and staring at Dirk, hoping he didn't wake him. He sighed with relief when the Strider didn't stir, moving away from Dirk's bag and setting his sleepwear at the foot of the bed gently. From there, he watched the puppet in the rucksack warily as he settled at his desk to tap away quietly at his laptop.
Jane was online. He hadn't talked to her much since he and Dirk had started their odd little fling, so he brought her up to speed without giving her too many details. Mostly he said he'd found someone he quite fancied, and things seemed to be progressing in a positive, if not entirely ideal, direction. She was a little worried about not entirely ideal, but he waved her off and deterred the conversation to her.
An hour later, he was still tapping away at his laptop talking to his only other real friend in the world.
Something like twenty minutes later it was getting late for Jane, and she bid Jake goodnight and told him to tend to his sick boyfriend (for which he was, to his credit, quick to correct her on). She tutted something like "I'm sure," and shot him a few emoticon hearts before she signed off, and Jake stayed smiling at the screen for a moment before he turned in his rolling chair.
He nearly jumped out of his skin to see Dirk awake and smiling like that.
"Good heavens, you gave me a fright. How are you feeling?"
Jake stood and padded across the room to sit on the edge of the bed beside Dirk, brushing his hair out of his face and leaving his hand there to check his temperature, gauging it inexactly against his own. "Don't move, then. It's better for you to just take it easy."
"At the very least until your fever has broken," Jake answered easily, leaning down to catch his lips. "If I had my way, though... Hmm, probably forever."
He stayed, and kissed him gently for a long time before he pulled away enough to level him with a lidded, sated smile. "If I thought you'd say yes, I probably would." Wow, he sure was feeling honest tonight.
It was a touch bittersweet, the way Jake knew he wasn't aware of what he was saying. He closed his eyes again and leaned forward to press a lingering kiss to his lips, threading his hands backward into Dirk's wild mess of styled hair and lean on him just barely at the shoulders. "I only wish," he said softly.
"Mm, let me sit differently. I'll get a hell of a crick in my neck if I let you fall asleep holding me here like this." He shifted, worming his way under the blankets with Dirk and drawing him into his arms. That was better, anyway.
If anything, Jake's arms encircled Dirk tighter when he drifted off again. He peppered little kisses all around what of him he could reach with his lips without moving them too much, and then settled to watch his sleeping form in silence. It probably wasn't long before he drifted off some, himself.
