This is a generic Jakepost to reply to. Because the meme post was all Jake and has some inconceivable amount of comments now so it doesn't like to load. Have at, my lovelies.
His eyebrows knit together but as he sat up the room sort of swam dangerously and he threatened to black out entirely, so he set his hands behind him on the mattress and lowered himself back down.
"Right, okay," he said, eyes scrunched closed. God, he hated being this much trouble.
He was back to shaking, and when Dirk got back with the tray of food he made a pitiful little sound, shifting and propping himself up against the wall with an aggravating amount of trouble. He kept his eyes closed for a while before he lifted his head enough to look at Dirk, uncertain of how to answer his question. Given his shaking, that was probably a no.
He settled pretty easily against Dirk's shoulder, trying to not lean entirely on him but mostly failing. Every time he moved he kept his eyes closed for a few seconds afterward, to try and nullify some of the dizziness. He grunted softly and brought a shaking hand up to the glass to make it seem a little less like he was completely helpless.
The soup smelled absolutely divine, and Jake's stomach made an irritated sound for him having not done something about its state of emptiness sooner. He crouched forward and put his mouth around the spoon.
"Mm." It wasn't really a definitive response at all, but Jake was squinting against a funny sort of spotting in his vision. "That'd... b'nice." Without realizing it he was slumping sideways.
His eyes were sort of trying to roll back in his head, but he clung viciously to consciousness and muttered unintelligibly. Jake, just go the fuck to sleep already.
And he was down for quite a while, that time. He stayed still and wheezed where he was for probably the better part of four hours, but it meant he got a full sleep cycle in. When he woke up he stared blearily at the ceiling for a long time before he even thought to look for Dirk. His brain was so foggy.
He had rolled over to curl up on his side once Dirk had moved to the end of the bed, so he didn't have to look too far to find Dirk tapping away at his laptop again. He smiled a little.
"You're always working," he said, less raspy than he had been but still a little catching.
