This is a generic Jakepost to reply to. Because the meme post was all Jake and has some inconceivable amount of comments now so it doesn't like to load. Have at, my lovelies.

"You want another slice?"

"You can't take some, because I kind of was so confident that you'd enjoy the pie-- mostly because Jake helped convince me --that I made a second one for you to take home?"
Jake cracked up around his mouthful of pie.
"Gram you're shameless."

"I can make you some ginger tea," she offered lightly. "You went and got yourself all in a tizz again, didn't you." She slid her hand up and massaged at the back of his neck, and he set his fork down, giving Dirk a sort of withering apologetic gaze with a grunt of acknowledgement toward his grandmother. She tsked lightly.

"I'll put on some ginger tea," she explained lightly. "But you know you'd probably be better off just letting yourself be sick." She could read that Jake's stomach wasn't just from 'motion sickness', if it was at all-- he'd worried himself sick again. He did it a lot, really. She didn't voice it, but her statement rang of scolding him for letting his nerves get the better of him and he pushed his plate of pie toward Dirk, leaning forward onto the table.
"I know, but I ate a lot and it's such a waste of food." Also throwing up as much as he'd eaten would be terrible. He whined some more, and Jade just tutted again.

"Eat that for me, and stay here with gram if I wind up getting up to chunder."
Jade wandered back over and rubbed his back some more.
"I could just get you a bucket," she offered, and Jake shook his head, making a face.
"And expose Dirk to me horking in the kitchen over a bucket? I think not." He made a face, scrunching his eyes closed. "Please stop talking about it." Jade chuckled, wandering back to the fridge. She opened the top part, where the freezer was, and pulled out a pair of small cold compresses, which she returned to Jake with.
"Compress," she warned, and set one on the back of his neck.

"Well I mean unless you want to come watch me worship the toilet in technicolor," he offered, shaking his head against the table. He pawed around under it to find Dirk's other hand.
Jade slid her hands downward and lifted up the back of Jake's shirt, giving the same compress warning before setting the other patch on him and slowly moving it up and down his spine. She tutted a little.
"You're sweating, Jake," she assessed softly. He just groaned a little.

Jake tensed where he sat and squeezed Dirk's hand briefly, losing pretty much all of the color to his face and letting go of Dirk's hand. Jade stepped to the side of his chair and he scooted it backward, impressively calm as he stood and walked out of the kitchen.
Jade turned a quirked eyebrow at Dirk.
"Effective," she offered. "Did you know that was going to upset him enough to make him go get it over with, or was that just dumb luck?"
no subject
"He won't be upset with you for it," she admonished. "He'd have been miserable and nauseous for the rest of the night and probably not slept well or at all if he'd left it as is." She waved a hand dismissively. "He's had a nervous stomach since he was a baby, it happens. Did he wake up ruffled?" She knew full well he was upset about something involving Dirk-- the fact that he hadn't even given an answer before he left to be sick told her that in neon blinking letters. But he'd looked tired, too, so there was a high chance he'd dozed off and woken up frazzled, which was an easy excuse for his nervous episode.

"Nightmares are less common with him, but still more than enough for an upset. He probably got on a topic in his head he wasn't settled with, be it school or something else-- his thought processes make little to no sense on good days --and tried to sleep off the anxiety but just made it worse."
no subject
"Poppycock," she said. "Jake is a bit of a delicate creature for all his rash and brazen attitude misleads. Most people don't know about his nerves because he usually manages to hide them pretty well. I'm sorry if this is awkward for you given the casual nature of you two's relationship."
